Dark Horses

Dear Subscribers,

I will continue the detox saga next week, but there are a few comments I want to make about the upcoming lunar eclipse as well as some suggestions for how to survive the summer health challenges.

Eclipse

This eclipse, while not visible in the U.S., does hit the U.S. Declaration of Independence horoscope right on the Mercury-Pluto opposition, third to ninth houses, but which is which depends on the chart one uses and despite the arguments for and against each of the various charts, I am sticking with the one that has worked for me and proposing that the eclipse will trigger our inherent xenophobia. Frankly, this is an almost crazy national "issue" given that the majority of the population has ethnic roots in other countries. The eclipse also falls hard on Trump's Venus/Saturn conjunction in the 11th house which is square Jupiter, the natural ruler of all that is foreign, including people and nations and, in this case, also international finance. So, keep your eyes and ears open or retreat into samadhi to see if there is a way out of the countless impasses and crises that plague us today.

Dark Horses

The election season is very long and tiresome. I think it would be better to extend the time in office and lessen the number of elections as it is hard to see how anyone can tackle serious work when appearing at rallies, on interview programs, and in debates. Since none of the top contenders are personally interesting to me, I would like to discuss the dark horses . . . in a non-predictive but hopefully thought provoking manner.

It should be obvious, but perhaps is not, that we are being increasingly managed by people and interests that have massive wealth and inordinate power. As lies and misdeeds keep surfacing, we could look at how sanity might alter the landscape.

In the last few posts, I have raised a few serious environmental issues but they are truly minor in the grander scheme of Earth issues. Mercury is actually a by-product of the mining industry but once used, it is a hazardous waste that requires proper management, like radioactive materials. I was living in Santa Fe when there were raging forest fires near the nuclear waste barrels in Los Alamos. I could see the flames from my home and the smoke was so cloying that people kept their windows closed for months. It could have been the worst nuclear disaster in history, and it surely was a disaster regardless of the reporting.

After Fukushima, I remember reading that Joseph Biden was going to Mongolia to "negotiate" storing nuclear waste there. I seriously doubt that such negotiations are friendly. For one, I was in Vietnam and know the types the pressure put on foreign governments to do our bidding. Secondly, if the intent were friendly, they could have sent someone from Tepco in Japan. Thirdly, what entity anywhere in the world would not be regarded as treasonous if capitulating to pressure from a foreign power making such demands.

I might be a dreamer, but also perhaps sometimes visionary. It is easy to imagine what ought to be rather than what is . . . and fire has the transformative energy to create the ideal, if given a chance. I have also thought that we should, for example, hold elections at different times so that we are not favoring Scorpio over the other eleven signs. There would be more balance and perhaps also less tendency for secretiveness.

What is particularly interesting at this time is that some of the candidates are very senior whereas some are hardly old enough to qualify. So, besides left-right and progressive-conservative biases, there is a generation gap with at least three unusual candidates whose platforms are truly different. It's hard to know where to begin but a coalition of forces within or opposing the Democratic Party could transform this country.

Personally, I cannot envision Marianne Williamson as president, but A Course in Miracles background could definitely make a difference at the State Department, not to mention CIA. Andrew Yang's ideas are so out of the box that he has to lay out his plans more carefully and explain the ramifications in practical terms. Before one dismisses his platform as the Santa Claus for grown ups, one needs to study carefully the relationship between time and productivity. There is probably nothing more ideologically appealing as knowing oneself and the leisure he promises could trigger a cultural shift, liberating millions of souls from scratch and claw to a renaissance with absolutely unpredictable value for the future of civilization. It is brilliant and should be seriously studied. It goes without saying that while some people would waste time in frivolous activities, some would unfold their hidden potential, but the lunar eclipse hits Yang's Sun.

Tulsi Gabbard exudes leadership and integrity. She is an outstanding role model in countless ways. I do not agree with her on many points, but she is undeniably different and refreshing. As the depravity of many in high positions is dragged across our screens, anyone espousing non-intervention and a redefinition of what it means to be American or what it means to render service to others or what it means to have self-esteem rather than power would be a big shift away from ego-driven ambition to true acceptance of responsibility! What a welcome relief from arrogance and bravado.

I called this post "Dark Horses" because the odds of capturing the imagination of the public are very low when people are dumbed down by a manipulative press and the distractions of sordid public figures caught in scandals. I am sure this campaign season will be lurid.

Where I probably made too sharp a turn was when shifting from generalities to particulars. Regime change is generally about piracy of one brand or another. Corporations are the power behind the facade of government, and they seize what they can because there is no accepted ethic. A green platform would be an alternative to predatory politics and oversized corporations. It presupposes taking environmental issues seriously, not necessarily with carbon taxes but with investments in sustainable energy and green policies towards agriculture and productivity. Nature does not have a growth economy. It supports a replacement economy. In a pirate culture, one entity gains at the expense of the loser(s).

You can look at this in many ways but sending jobs overseas means unemployment at home so how can the imbalance be corrected. The military-industrial complex is used to intimidate and steal, but it needs to be completely restructured in order to conform to what the Earth can sustain. Currently, it is the largest polluter in world history, and it creates absolutely nothing of lasting value. Well, some may argue that patents might eventually benefit consumers but patents are by their very nature not natural. What is truly natural cannot be patented.

It's hard to imagine a politician with the whole enchilada but unless there is an ethical foundation to government and banking and agriculture and industry, there will be failure, displacement, suffering, and collapse. We need all the dedicated and brilliant minds available.

Summer Survival

I promised to touch on summer. There is excess rain in some places, drought in others. Maybe we ought to desist from weather management? In the meantime, there are people suffering from dehydration and those with higher than usual exposure to insects. Ultimately, this means problems. Hydration is not just a matter of water or other fluids but also electrolytes. Try putting bamboo manna (vamsa rochna) powder into water and shake vigorously before drinking. Shilajit is obviously another alternative. It dissolves easily in water (slowly but thoroughly). Everyone probably knows about lemons, but what about rose hips and nettles. You can use water or coconut water and add a pinch of Himalayan salt for good measure. You can also drink melon juices or eat the fruit.

For biting bugs, use citronella essential oil. Spray the diluted oil on clothing to keep the bugs away. If bitten use a topical preparation immediately and follow up with an antiparasitic remedy, the quicker the better. There are essential oils that can be applied to the bites, after the fact, but they tend to address symptoms more than longer-term risks. For instance, they address itching or pain or infection, but not necessarily the spirochete leading to Lyme disease. The very safe oils would include lavender and sweet basil, but there is a much more powerful oil called lantana that has to be used cautiously, but it is safe for short-term use and is larvicidal. A truly safe parasiicide is owyhee, a kind of mugwort. I had two bites in Germany that took more than a year to resolve. I was there in October and did not expect so many bugs that time of year but there were no screens on the hotel window that I had left open because the room was too hot. I looked at the fluids under the microscope and saw many "fried" parasites. They were "boiled" in the acidity of the venom and were all shriveled up but dangerous looking. So, one follows up with parasiticides, monthly until all signs of infection vanish.

There is one last item I want to add to this post. It is a link to alternatives: https://tinyurl.com/y4pdrrpw.

Okay, this is it for today. I will resume the detox saga and follow it up with posts about fungal infections . . . because there was a request.

Blessings,

Ingrid
